Computer Care Tips
Computer care and spyware removal

Due to recent changes, we were required to change the system used for e-mail.  Your e-mail address has not changed, just the webpage you need need to get to it.  I'm sorry, but you will also have to re-add any addresses you had in your Address Book as well.

In order to access your web-based e-mail, please click here.  This IS a different website than you previously had to use to access your e-mail, please bookmark this new page for future reference if you wish to do so.  The login for this webpage is a little different than before.  For your username enter your full e-mail address (i.e. username@examinepc.com).  Then enter the password you have chosen (you will need to speak to me if this is the first time you have needed to get into the new account, as all passwords had to be reset).

The benefits of moving to this new system:

  • Up to date spam and virus filters (all of this mail will be placed into a Filtered mail folder so you do not accidentally lose any e-mail that may have been incorrectly tagged as spam/virus)

  • The latest and greatest e-mail software available (friendlier interface and built-in spell check)

A few tips about the new system:

  1. To change your password:  Log into the new system as you normally would.  On the left side there will be a link to Options.  Click on this button and you will see options for your account that you can modify, including your password.  You should probably make sure everything else in there is set correctly as well.

  2. Configuring Microsoft Outlook 2000 for InterMail mail access using SMTP Auth

The following instructions show you how to configure Microsoft Outlook 2000 to use SMTP Auth for accessing your Intermail account.

SMTP Auth allows mail users to be authenticated and provides a more secure transfer methodology.

You should configure your client as follows to use SMTP Auth:

    ·         The incoming mail server (POP3): enter pop.registeredsite.com

    ·          The outgoing SMTP server should be set to smtp-auth.registeredsite.com.

    ·          The outgoing (SMTP) port should be set to 587

    ·          You should select the My server requires authentication checkbox.

If you are using a different version of Outlook, these instructions may vary. These instructions assume that Microsoft Outlook 2000 has been installed correctly on your system.

    Microsoft Outlook 2000:

Perform the following steps to configure Outlook 2000 for SMTP Auth:

    1. Open Outlook.
    2. Click Tools on the menu bar.
    3. Select Services from the Tools menu. The Services screen opens.
    4. Select Intermail from the mail services shown, and then click Properties.
    1. In the Mail Account Properties screen, select the Servers tab. In the Server Information section, change the value in the Outgoing mail(SMTP): field to smtp-auth.registeredsite.com.
    1. Select the My server requires authentication checkbox.  Click the Settings button.
    1. The Outgoing Mail Server screen opens.  Select the Use same settings as my incoming mail server radio button, and then click OK to close the dialogue box.
    1. Click the Advanced tab. Change the Server Port Number for Outgoing mail (SMTP): to 587.
    1. Click OK, and then click OK again to exit the Services screen. You will need to close Microsoft Outlook and re-open it for your changes to become active.

  3. Outlook XP (2002) Setup for InterMail

If you want to test your email settings before proceeding, you can do so by connecting to the Internet, and then clicking the Test Account Settings button. Outlook will run a series of tests and display a report with the results.

If a test completed successfully, a green checkmark will display beside it. If Outlook encountered errors during the test, you can click the Error button to display the error details.

    1. After clicking Next, you will be returned to the E-mail Accounts screen and your new account will be shown. Click Finish. You should now be ready to send and receive email. Log out of Outlook and then log back in for your new settings to take effect.

Remember, this system is new to me too, but if you need help, please call me at home (you should have the number ).
